Net Optics VP of Technology, Sharon Besser, notes that Forrester recommends creating a DAN to help mitigate security threats and automate functionality: "To create a DAN, you must mirror or tap your various network segments so that they can be aggregated into a single feed that will become your DAN. While most switches can mirror traffic to a dedicated switch port, this is often ineffective because port density is at a premium and many networks cannot spare the ports to create a DAN.
