Net Optics, Inc., the global leader in intelligent network access solutions, announced today that Info Security Products Guide, the industry's leading information security research and advisory guide, has named the “Military Base Achieves 10G Network Monitoring With Net Optics Director” case study, a winner of the 2010 Best Deployment Scenario Awards in Network Visibility. This prestigious award recognizes security vendors with advanced, ground-breaking security solutions that are helping set the bar higher for others in all areas of information security. The Net Optics military base case study was selected based on real world solution deployments that are making the most positive impact on security in today’s highly sophisticated and blended attacks environment.
The United States military relies on its networks for delivering and storing information that is critical to ensuring the nation’s safety and protection. Having recently upgraded their network to 10 Gbps, a military base needed to figure out a way to monitor their network, and relied on Net Optics to provide a solution. Net Optics proposed an architecture using 10 Gigabit Fiber Taps to tap the 10G links, along with Director™ DIR-7400 data monitoring switches to aggregate switching and filter the tapped traffic. Using this solution, the data center was able to record the traffic from two 10G links on each traffic recorder—saving half the cost of a recorder for each link, along with the cost of managing the extra devices in what would have been a significantly more complex environment.
